Fantastic Writing

Last week in Te Ngahere we did a piece of writing  to explain how forces cause bottle rockets to fly. My writing is all about Newton’s 3 Laws of Motion and how it  can affect the rockets. It was hard thinking of how I was going to explain what the 1st Law of Motion is and the the 3rd Law of Motion. For this piece of writing we were using passive voice for  example not using I, me, we and you. Have you created a piece of  writing around rockets?

Incredible Outstanding Math

In Te Ngahere we have groups for maths and we are working on one sheet for a week and then we swap with the next group and work on that activity. This week my group and I are working on Pondering Pendulums. This maths is all about time just like last weeks  activity we learnt how to use a mini trundle wheel that measures 0.5m  every complete turn. Pondering pendulums is just like a grandfather clock. We had to get a piece of string and tie it around a rock and swing it 10 times to see how many seconds it took. When we finished our activity, we had to explain in our own words what is the same about a grandfather clock and a string with a rock at the end. Do you know what a grandfather clock is?

Fantastic Launch day

Today was the big final launch for our rockets. When our bell rang to go back to class we all lined up and 1 person per group went into class and collected our rocket. After that we walked over to the field and sat to watch our first launch. The first group to launch was my group participating in my group is Nevaeh, Lily, Tizara and me. Our rocket went 19.9 metres and we didn’t place anywhere but what I have learnt is  winning doesn’t matter at least  you trying your best and working as a team. Have you ever seen another class launch  rockets ?

Fantastic Maori language week !!!!

Kia ora bloggers, This week it's Maori language week. In Te Ngahere for Maori language  week we are leaning the weather in Te Reo. How we first started off learning the weather in Te Reo we started learning how to say the Kupu before we got to match the cards and play memory or Ika Ika that means fishy fishy. Participating in my group it’s Jade R, Angela and me, When we were playing memory and matching the cards we only got mixed up on two of the kupu and that was Pata Ua ( sun showers ) and the other one was Ua Whatu ( snow ). The easiest kupu for me would have to be Huripari and that means tornado and how I can remember the kupu it’s because Huri means turn. How has your Maori language week been for you ?
