Attributing Images Online

Kia ora bloggers welcome to my blog. My name is  Isabella-paige and I am a year 8 student who attends Paihia School. This week’s blog post is about learning how to attribute images online.  We have been learning about using people’s photos off the internet. We had to find pictures on the internet based around Te Ngahere, also known as the bush. Before we had clicked on any  photo we had to push tools then click usage rights and once you click on that it takes you to images that you are allowed to use. Once we found a photo we had to click on the picture to find  the creative commons licence. The author’s name and the name of the picture.  I found this activity really easy. Have you ever learnt about attributing Images online before?

My Lockdown Life

Kia ora bloggers my name is Isabella-paige and I attend Paihia School and I am a year 8 student. I am currently in lockdown and in this blog post I will be sharing what do everyday in lockdown. During lockdown I wake up early and get ready for my online classes, I join the call around 9.15am so I am ready for when my teachers come on. After my google classes I start doing my blogging and then I start working on the next things on my time table after I have worked on most of my timetable I go on the 2:00pm google classes and wait till my teachers and classmates join. When the google meets finished I do some baking yesterday for fathers day I made some donuts in a sausage roll maker and I made some normal ones. In lockdown it is really boring but because I have heaps of siblings it's kinda fun, I really hope we can go back to school again because it's better being with your teachers and classmates face to face not over a laptop. How has your lockdown been?

Hope everyone is safe and not going crazing in lockdown !!!

Amzing Google Hangout

Kia ora if you are new to my blog my name is Isabella-paige I attend paihia school and I am a year 8 student. For two and a half weeks almost three we have been in lock down, In my opinion I think lock down is really boring but at least we can stay home and just do nothing. Today my blog post is around Google hangouts if you dont know what Google hangouts is its like a call but it is used for education and business, I really think Google hangouts is amazing because you can interact with your teachers and work mates. My class uses Google hangouts and I really enjoy going on them in the morning and afternoon because it makes my day seeing my school friends, teachers and principal also its better starting your day with you class and ending with your class. In our class we have rules for Google hangout like be on time turn your camera on unless you have emailed the teacher because its rude having your camera off its like being in class with your back towards the teachers. We also have two others one of them are put up your hand to speak and the other rule is always be respectful to the speaker. Do you use Google hangout for learning ? Be safe and stay in your own bubble !!!!

Amazing Extreme Dot Plot

Kia ora and welcome or welcome to my blog, I hope you are having an amazing first week  back at school. This  week we have been learning around dot plots we looked at what a dot plot looks like and we had to explain around the dot plot for room 1 then we moved on and made our own dot plot around room 2 gathering facts. I was really confused how to set out my DLO to teach others about dot plot because there wasn't much things I really could think of. I use to think a dot plot was just a graph with dots in the middle everywhere but I just learnt that a dot plot is like a graph but it just a line with a group of dots. I think next time I work around dot plots and make a DLO im going to add more detail around what we are learning and add a success criteria to help explain what i'm trying to say better. I learnt heaps around dot plot before we started working  around dot plot I didn't know anything about them now that we are learning about dot plots it's actually really easy to understand. Whaea becks made a DLO and it was a lot different to Tiara and I DLO I think we could add more detail to the learning.

Have you ever worked around dot plots before ?

My Experiance at Technology

                                            My Experiance at Technology

Last week in Te Ngahere the year 7’s and 8’s got to go to technology at Moerewa School. Te 8’s are in Wood work with Mr. E I amyear 8 so I’m in woodworks and we are making our own waka. First we had to measure our wood then using the power tools we cut the wood out . Once that was done we got to glue another piece of wood onto our waka. The next thing I have to do is shape my waka.   The part I found easy was glueing the two pieces of wood together. Does your school do Technology ?

Smart Relationships Online

          Smart Relationships Online

Kia ora bloggers a few days ago in class we learnt about smart relationships to help us think smart online. We watched a video of this girl making an app online. She posted some pictures of her not knowing people she did not know could see them. There was a bit in the video when the girl put a poster outside her house and this old man had walked past the poster and the posted had a young photo of the girl and the young girls email. From this video clip it has taught me that when your  parents say don’t talk to strangers they don’t only mean in real life they also mean over the internet because old men could be acting like a 13 year old and really there like 34 years old. I think next time I could work faster on my DLO about smart relationships.

Have you ever learnt about smart relationships online ?

Technology Woodworks Day

    Technology Woodworks Day

In Te Ngahere the year 7 and 8’s went to technology. I really enjoyed the day we had on tuesday at technology because Mr E let us  complete  our wakas that we are working on and also because he let us take photos. The fun part of the day was when  Mr E letus do whatever because we tidied up our work space too early.  There was a group of us that were playing the guess what game to be honest that game was fun. The hard part at technology for me was cutting out the wood as good I want it to be. I think next time I go to technology I could focus better.

Have you ever made a waka before ?

Fun Cybersmart Google Drawing Using Shapes

Fun Cybersmart Google Drawing Using Shapes

In Te Ngahere we have been  learning  how to use google drawing confidently and to use the tools in a correct way.  We were also learning how to use different tools in google drawing to helps us feel confident when making things in a creative way. Our class got a choice of what our theme was going to be the themes were under the water and the bush. It was kinda hard for me to get the right shapes for a jellyfish but at the end it worked out. The hardest part for me was finding the tools to use to create different types of sea animals. The fun part about this lesson was that it wasn’t about being perfect it was about using lots of different shapes to create cute little animals. Have you ever done  a creative art on a google drawing?

Fantastic Wood Works

Fantastic Wood Works

This week in Te Ngahere the year 7 and 8’s went to Moerewa School for technology. The year 7’s attended cooking class and the year 8’s attended wood works. In wood works we were starting our projects of making a waka. I enjoy being in Mr E’s class because he is very patient and likes us to use our hands at all time. He also went over the safety rules.  What I did well was listened and tried my best to get the measurements right. What I could do better is build up the courage to cut my art out. What is your best project you have made before?

CAN YOU FOLLOW DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY

 CAN YOU FOLLOW DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY

On the first day of school we started off with a warm up activity. We did an activity called CAN YOU FOLLOW DIRECTIONS. The instruction were that we had to read all the instruction before doing anything.  My group and I didn’t read the instruction properly, this is because when we got the the 23rd question it said to only do number 1 and 2 and we had already finished 21 questions. This was the challenging thing in my group. What was easy for me was answering most of the questions. Have you ever done a fun activity on the first day of school ?

Amazing Learning Education Perfect !

Lately in Te Ngahere we have been working around pronunciation for our Te Reo Māori. We have been learning to pronounce place names, alphabet and greetings in Maori. The website we used in order to learn our Te Reo Maori was Education Perfect! Education Perfect has helped me to pronounce everything correctly. It was really easy to use because I  could record my voice and re-hear it so I know if I pronounced the word correctly or incorrectly. If it wasn’t for Education Perfect I wouldn’t of been able to learn how to say the right pronunciation for place names in Maori. Do you know the Māori alphabet?

Smart Surfing Life Hack

Kia ora bloggers, in Te Ngahere we have recently been learning how to smart surf. Smart surfing is about learning how to search up the right thing to get a more accurate answer because if you search up a question that has (how) in it the web would go and find every page that has the word (how). If you want to get the right answers there is something you need to use and that is called keywords, for example:The largest spider in the world ? You would find the most important word in that sentence which would be largest spider and search the web for it to get a more accurate answer). it is only better to use them because you would get the answer you want faster and you also won’t have to read through a lot of things just to find your answer. Have you ever learned about smart surfing?

Coastal Sea Life

In Te Ngahere for the last two days of school we have been doing an activity called Coastal Seas. We started off by watching a video on Netflix and writing down ten facts but I went overboard and I did fifty facts about our sea life. After watching the video we made a DLO to show what we learnt. I learnt that wrasse fish clean sharks teeth, I never knew that. The DLO was around what we found out and information. It was a bit hard trying to find out the  facts that I wanted to add in my DLO. Have you ever learnt about Coastal Seas before?

Mind Blowing Facts About Mutualism

This week in Te Ngahere we have been learning about mutualism. Mutualism describes between two or more species where each species has a net benefit that means that when bees go to a male flowers and get pollen they stick to there little feet and the bees go to the female flowers and then they make babies. My new understanding is that if we didn’t have any  baby trees or baby flowers and the old trees and the old flowers would die then there won't be any flowers or trees to keep processing it would all  just be soil.  Next time I could do better by explaining what mutualism is properly .Have you ever learnt about mutualism?

Tricky Tidy Drive!

In Te Ngahere we started a new activity call tidying our drive. We currently just started yesterday in the afternoon. First we had to help John sort out his folders we had to put a red circle around the ones that wasn’t named and we had to put a blue circle around the ones that had already had title but just not a name.

It was fun doing this activity because it was teaching me how to clean my drive and not have things all around the place. The hardest part for me was organising them into the right file. Have you ever cleaned your drive before?

Tricky Task Masters

Lately in Te Ngahere we have been doing an activity called task master this is to help us  discuss and collaborate with our team members. Our activity was based around drawing we made 2 drawing but there was two runner and there was one drawer. The one that was drawing was not aloud to run outside and look at the picture but the two runners were a loud. On our first drawing the drawer was Cahlay and Kahsius and I was the two runners the frustrating part for me was not being able to touch the paper and not getting as mad. The thing that worked well for me was that we were close to the picture so it didn’t take as long to run back and forth. On our second attempted I was the drawer the hard thing for me was not being able to see the teachers drawing also getting rushed. What the challenging  part is not having clear instruction . Have you done team building before?

This is Whaea Becks picture      This is my groups 1st a attempted    This is my groups 2nd attempted

Tidal Waves

Last Friday  morning 10 bells rang. I was really scared. We all rushed in to class and  did the roll. While doing the  roll I was really worried what was going on, until  our two teachers told us we all had to go up to the hill. We ran up the hill; we didn’t have anytime to get our bag or our shoes. Once we got up the hill we  were all  really worried; even some kids even in tears. We watched cars coming up the hill. We heard all the sirens for the tsunami. It was really scary hearing them go on and off. A while after we waited and we seen the waves coming slowly over the rocks. While that was happening Jade and I  were sleeping on the the footpath. We thought that it would be huge but it was only 1.3 meters. Later in the afternoon this old man offered to go and get our bags. We were so happy.  Gina did some quiz games and it was really fun. When we got back we chilled then we all got ice creams given to us by Mrs Lindsay.  Have you ever been in a tsunami?

Mind Blowing Technology

On Tuesday morning we gathered  together to go to Moerewa School to do technology. I was really excited because we were doing cooking. All the year 8’s got to make pinwheels, they are  basically like pizzas just little. We got to pick our own groups, my group was Gail, Breeze and Jorjah. In my pinwheels I put  bacon, tomato, broccoli, onions, garlic and spinach. My pinwheel was really delicious it was really crispy and it wasn't brunt it was just right. Have you ever done made pinwheels before ?

The Fun Fact Of The Ecosystem Cycle

Lately  in Te Ngahere we have been learning about  ecosystems, it was based on Te Ngahere. Our kaiako put together a document asking what we know, what we discovered and what our new understanding is. I really enjoyed learning about ecosystems. I have never learnt about it before, It took me awhile to put my new understandings down. After a day I went for help then I understood  it better. I learnt that if we didn’t have trees we wouldn’t have grass eating animals and if we did have grass eating animals we wouldn’t have meat eating animals, and  humans would die.  What I could do better next time is do my reading faster. Have you ever learnt about the ecosystems?
